FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is there a trial?
Yes. A new workspace is free for 7 days, with no card. During the trial it holds up to 50 tasks, 20 pages and 3 members. Subscribe at any time to remove the limits.
What do I pay for?
One flat price for each workspace: $10 each month, or $100 each year (two months free). The number of members does not change the price. Sales tax or VAT is added at checkout where it applies.
Do I get Cloud-only features?
No. Orbit Cloud runs the same open-source code that you can host yourself. You pay for us to run it, back it up and update it.
What happens if I cancel my subscription?
The workspace becomes read-only at the end of the paid period. Members can still read and search everything, and owners and admins can export the whole workspace. Subscribe again to write again.
What if I miss a payment?
Stripe tries the card again for some days. During that time the workspace keeps full access. If the payment does not go through, the subscription ends and the workspace becomes read-only until you subscribe again.
Am I locked into Orbit Cloud?
No. You can export the whole workspace as a ZIP file with JSON, Markdown and all files at any time, also when it is read-only.
Is my data backed up?
Yes. We back up Orbit Cloud automatically and keep the files in object storage.
Is there a mobile app?
Not yet. An iOS and Android app is coming soon, for Orbit Cloud and for your own server.
Can I use my own domain?
Not on Orbit Cloud. Host Orbit yourself to use your own domain.
Is the self-hosted version really free?
Yes. Orbit is open source under Apache 2.0, with every feature and no limits. You only pay for your own server.
